Head Coach Weijschedé Presents World Championship Squads for Amsterdam

The TeamNL squads that will compete in the upcoming World Championships on home soil have been announced. Following strong results in Seville, Head Coach Titus Weijschedé has opted for continuity. Major changes have been ruled out, underlining the confidence in the current boat configurations heading into the World Championships.

With eight medals at the first World Cup in Seville, the Netherlands once again confirmed its position among the world’s elite. The strong form of TeamNL Rowing has prompted Head Coach Titus Weijschedé and his technical staff to stick with the existing crews.

“After Seville, we carefully evaluated the crews. The boat speeds we observed, both in Seville and during the training sessions leading up to the regatta, give us the confidence to head into the World Championships with these selections,” said Weijschedé.

In Seville, the majority of the crews already competed in their intended World Championship lineups. Only the women’s double sculls and the women’s quadruple sculls raced in smaller boat classes, with the aim of seeking additional individual challenges.

Individual challenges for Men’s Double Sculls and Para Participation

Prior to the World Championships, TeamNL Rowing will compete internationally at the third World Cup in Lucerne. At this World Cup, the squads will largely race in their World Championship formations, with the exception of the men’s double sculls. As part of their training program, scullers Simon van Dorp and Melvin Twellaar will both compete in the single scull, seeking their own individual challenges.

Finally, Eva Mol will also participate in the World Cup regatta in Lucerne as preparation for the World Championships. She will compete in the PR1 women’s para single scull field.

The potential participation of non-Olympic crews will be announced at a later date.
